The PMIQ Chapter 2008 Annual General Meeting followed by: Graham Scott - "Managing Relationship Risk in Projects". This presentation highlights the need for effective management of relationships in projects. It covers relationships from a risk management perspective and shows how to develop a rigorous planned approach that will impact on delivery outcomes through effective group dynamics; interface management and good leadership methodologies. The presentation is focused on a number of key points: 1. What is relationship effectiveness / ineffectiveness
2. What is risk from this perspective
3. How to mitigate this risk
4. Using a rigorous planned approach. The presentation will use case examples; appropriate audience participation / discussion and presenter input. The outcomes of the presentation would be that participants would have a broad knowledge of how to go about adding value in their projects through applying specific process and strategies. Graham Scott is an Organisational Psychologist with Masters qualifications. Prior to studying Psychology Graham worked in the Construction Industry at trade and Management levels. For the past thirteen years Graham has being working in Projects mostly in recovery around "communication" and "people issues". Graham has recently developed a rigorous approach to relationship management through a rigorous planned approach using a risk framework. Graham lectures in the Master of Project Management at QUT. He has lectured in the MBA at QUT, is an accredited mediator with the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators. PMIQ Evening Discussion Groups The first Discussion Group hosted by Parsons Brinckerhoff (www.pbworld.com): “If only someone had told me......................” was successfully completed on the 1st October. Look out for the next one. The PMIQ Evening Discussion Groups are intended to be quite different from the regular chapter meetings and indeed a typical presentation. They are a forum for lively discussion around a Project Management Issue.

5-Steps Scheduling Training Course PMIQ has arranged with Melbourne-based REP Mosaic Project Services Pty. Ltd. for this course to be run in Brisbane on Thursday 30 October 2008. Certification Study Group PMP AND CAPM STUDY GROUPS STARTED 24 JULY - The next round of PMP and CAPM study groups are underway, following last weeks kick-off information session at The Irish Club. A copy of the slides can be downloaded here. Study groups are self-help activities run by the participants themselves and coached by a certified PMP. Each session consists of a topic prepared and presented by a participant, practice questions and of course networking with practising project managers. Study groups are free and exclusive to all PMIQ members and are a great way to help you prepare for your PMP and CAPM exams. The study groups started on 24 July and run on Thursday nights from 5.30pm – 7pm up to the exam on 15 November.
